Exhibit the Right to Read : Columbus State Community College Library's Campaign for Banned Books Week 2014
College / University
The Columbus State Library received a Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF) grant for Banned Books Week (BBW) 2014 programming. The Exhibit the Right to Read campaign had three goals in mind: Innovate; Curate; Disseminate. The library offered multiple opportunities for the creation of an online exhibit exploring such themes as censorship and intellectual freedom. Participants curated their own learning experience through interactive events, including the “Which Banned Book Are You?” quiz (which went viral nationwide), story booth recordings, and a traveling photo booth. An active social media campaign marketed events and allowed for the sharing of all BBW content.
